Fuel EU Maritime: Practical Guidance on Charterparty Considerations

Further to the release of our Fuel EU Calculator and accompanying User Guidance Document, and to assist Members in addressing the contractual considerations arising under the Fuel EU Maritime Regulation, INTERTANKO has developed Practical Guidance on Charterparty Considerations.
The guidance examines the contractual position under both time and voyage charterparties, highlighting behavioural trends and potential areas of concern related to the use of flexible compliance mechanisms, as well as their effects and limitations in the context of subsequent charters.
Due consideration is also given to Worldscale’s proposed incorporation of Fuel EU-related costs within the framework of their 2026 flat rates.
